I have a deck post and beam issue that I need advice on…..
Looking at the plans that are attached, the 2 yellow footing/posts that are marked on the right side. I’m trying to determine the best wat to attach the main beam and the short 45 degree beam. The joists are to be mounted to the face of the main beam and not cantilevered.
Two options that I can think of:
1. Notch the main beam post (yellow one on the left) to carry both the main beam and the 45 degree beam. How would I bolt it to the notch or is there a post cap that is a 45 degree L?
2. Add a second post in between the 2 to carry the 45 degree beam so it is supported on 2 ends.
Thanks!

How are the posts connected to the footers? A 45 degree notch sounds like a good choice. Then stabilize it further with a connector and you might be able to omit adding a footer. Strongtie.com may have one just for you.
My boss told me that the last deck we built was a custom deck. I think you've got us beat.

I'm using the Strong Tie post connectors with a 1/2" j bolt. The problem is I looked at USP and Strong tie foa post cap the creates a 45 degree L to set the beams in and they don't have anything.

You may not have to hang it. Just an angle with long enough fasteners and lag bolts may be all you need, then tie it together with blocking. I dont think that the 45 will carry a substantial enough of a load to really lose any sleep over it, will it?
