With all the recalls I see on the news I got to thinking. I have about 450 sq. ft. of prefinished white oak with a clear satin finish, polyurethane I’m guessing. Haven’t installed it yet, could the finish have lead in it? Is lead only in pigment type paint?
Thanks
Kevin

Well, it sounded like an impromtu form of chelation therapy; adding cod liver oil (for the iodine content) would seem to round out the prescription.
Hard call to make on whether or not that there's lead content in the prefinished flooring. No telling what is in the dust that's on the inside of the cardborad pacakaging, for that matter.
Probably not a measurable content in the clear finish, unless there was lead in the solvent base for it.
But, you'd have to expose the material, and then get it to "mouthable" or "chewable" dimensions, and then ingest that material in quantity. How much is too much? No telling--you have to pick the date, the authority cited, and who is the AHJ.Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)

I'm pretty sure I've read (likely in Old House Journal) lead was also used in varnishes
