Hello from Ontario, Canada
We are in the process of selecting a prefinished red oak floor for a living dining room area. I have received a price from the Home Depot for a select and better grade that is made by Goodfellow (Original line). I have also received a price for the same grade from a local hardwood flooring retailer. This one is made by Muskoka Hardwoods. Both types come with a multi layer urethane coating system that incorporates aluminum oxide and provide a 25 year warranty on finish wear through. the price for the Goodfellow is about 12% less ($5.11 cdn per square foot) than the Muskoka brand). I don’t mind paying more if I know the quality is there.
I am hoping that someone could comment on the quality of the Goodfellow and/or the Muskoka or other product based on their experience.

Any way to break open a couple bundles of each? for comparison.
HD sells cheaper by beaing up on their suppliers and making it up in volume so their's a chance that they are similar products. My first guess tho is that the cheaper brand is more likely to have a higher percentage of 'shorts' meaning more pieces to fit, more labor, and a less stable and less beautifull floor.
I don't know beans about either brand specifically tho'
Excellence is its own reward!
Here in GTA Ontario I have never heard of Muskoka, sounds like a local brand. I know HD carries Goodfellow, never looked into it. 5.15 a sq. ft. is reasonable for 3 1/4. Preverco from Quebec runs around that price and is a good product. Mirage is more expensive and there are more shorts. Bruce is a little better but way more expensive. As Piffin said try to see at least a couple of open boxes, check out for shorts, finish and % of boards below select and better. I wouldn't buy from anybody who won't show me at least a couple of boxes.

Piff makes great sense on this one! There are other quality brands to consider as well but I wouldn't place Bruce in there. I can name a few of them.....
