Usually I buy my from the local plumbing supply store & it’s not a problem b/c there are no pricetags on anything.
Occasionally I need a fitting or two & run over the local hardware store (or big box if after hours). Every single time, the price tag is stuck on the spot that needs to be joined.
For example, if it’s a street 90, sure as shootin’ the tag will be stuck right were I need to cement – and it takes forever to peel it off & get all the adhesive cleaned so I can get a good connection. Do they do this on purpose?

Man, I'm with you. And they use those anti-switch tags that won't peel off in one piece & leave a sticky mess all over the place. And it's not just plumbing fittings, either. I can't count the number of times some nitwit has stuck a virtually non-removable price flag with glue that bonds forever to the thing smack in the middle of the most visible portion of something I've bought. Only thing worse is those plastic high-security prison cells they pack everything in these days that you need to cut off with a torch. ARRGH!

When my son took the work cap off of his 2000 Dakota last month, he needed to replace the missing tailgate. Called the junkyards and finally found one that was in decent shape, same color (white) as his truck. He paid for it and arranged to pick it up the next day.
Next day, he goes to the junkyard, and, sure enough they've pulled the tailgate off for him, and brought it into the pickup area. Oh, and just to be sure that they didn't mix it up with somebody else's order, they wrote the invoice number across the outside, in big 3" fluorescent green numbers with a permanent marker.
So far, no amount of scrubbing with goof-off has been able to make a significant dent in the writing. He'll probably have to have it painted now, which is what he was trying to avoid in the first place...

I hate that! They do it at HD all the time with both ABS and copper fittings.
Even worse is being at the register and there is no stickee thingee.
Start over.

the check out folks don't like that much either.
I was at HD a few weeks ago, amount my purchase were a few loose PVC fittings, one of them had no tag...
Lady asked how much, I said I dunno... didn't look, guess it's free...
She said fine with me and tossed it in the bag.
