Hello All, <!—-><!—-><!—->
I’ve been stripping and refinishing some old two-panel doors (oak, I think). I noticed that in some places in the frame there are strange patterns in the wood. They look like rows of parallel lightning bolts (or the pattern in the middle of Charlie Brown’s shirt). They are not like the rest of the grain.<!—-><!—->
At first I though I had done it being careless with a hand-sander. However, I then noticed the same thing on some doors I had not sanded yet. Any ideas on what these might be and how to get rid of them? Even with a dark stain, they are still somewhat visible in the final product.<!—-><!—->
Thanks, Rossy <!—-><!—->

You wouldn't be describing that irradescent sort of look on qtr. sawn oak? (that is not a good word for it, but damn'd if I know which one to use.)

Ray fleck?KK
Well, I would describe it as groups of squiggly lines that run perpendicular to the grain.
I've heard of bella fleck, can't remember the music tho.
You know what i'm talking about tho Ken. You get the finish right and start looking sideways at it.............gives me that iradescent feeling............or not.

No, that's not it. I took a picture but for some reason I cannot attach a file to this message. These things run almost the width of the board. Compaired to the photo Brian posted, my marks are longer and more regular.
Hit reply, below the reply box is Attach Files, hit that
Browse for your pic file, dbl click on the pic and............hit Load I think it is. Wait until it loads fully, a red msg with the file name should appear ........you need to wait a while for it to load.
