Has Anyone had a problem covering Kilz Ultra with new paint. The problem I had was the paint pulling off during application over Well dryed kilz. Ant portion of the paint that was overlapped pulled cleanly off the wall. The Kilz Ultra was used as primer over old oil base on Plaster. Note: the paint did not pull off areas that were drywall.

The only time I've had a prob. with kilz is in plaster areas that had peeled b/4 because of what I think was some kind of chem. reaction. The kilz did not bond to that either. Are you down to bare plaster or only down to the old oil?
Had to "prime" with a plasterweld type product on one of em and ended up hanging new board on the bath ceiling on the other one. The plasterweld has held for 2 seasons so far.
*I've only read the directions on the back of a can of Kilz once...that was the first time I used it several years ago.Things may have changed, or my memory may have failed, but I do recall a note to not let too much time elapse between applying the primer and applying your first coat of paint. The stuff dries hard and smooth...makes it tough for the topcoat to adhere if too much time elapses.
*Roger - Period of room (date built)?
*Roger,Havent heard of any problems. You're saying the new paint adhered to the Kilz, but the Kilz did not adhere to the old plaster areas?Or finish paint wouldnt stick to Kilz only when there was original plaster underneath?
*I used Kilz Ultra on a water stain, then topcoated with a good latex. A few mos. later, the stain bled back thru.I then used regular Kilz, and it has been fine ever since. The attraction of water based (Kilz Ultra), seems lessened by its mediocre performance in my experience.
