I’m getting ready to install a granite tile counter. Need to put a bullnose edge on the tile. Has anyone used the profile wheel to edge granite? Do they produce a nice edge? After using the profile wheel do you still need to polish the edge? The local fab shop will edge them for me but they want $10 a foot.
Thanks
Brent

Do the wheels produce a nice edge? Well...yes and no. If you select the proper grit and stay within the RPMs recommended, then yes. If you don't know what the heck you're doing, then no.
Let the wheel do the wheel do the work and make long passes. Yes, you will still want to polish. Notice I didn't say you need to polish; you'll want to finish when you see the difference in albedo. $10/ft is the standard for edge work.

Rich, what is the proper grit and ram's? What type of pads do you use to polish the edge? Any other tips?
Thanks Brent

Wait a minute, are you talking about the saw blades which already have the profile? Kind of like a router bit? If so, then, nope, I don't use those. Long time ago I tried a couple of different blades but since they were mounted on the saw there were too many limitations.
Instead, I free hand everything. That is what I was talking about. I'll e-mail Brent further information, if any others want info you can e- me.
