I am purchasing one acre of land from family friends, have done a title search and there are no liens on the property. The parents died and the 2 brothers were left the land, no will just auto went to them. The land is still in the parents name, we have agreed on a price, everyone is in agreement. Do I need a lawyer to purchase, I am in NC. I had rather save money if possible but no sure of the steps I need to take without a lawyer.

may be a lower cost option, and includes one call with a local lawyer.
might be just as cheep to talk to an actual lawyer direct.
details will depend on how long ago they passed away, and what happened related to the property in probate. (Details like who exactly needs to sign the deed.)
Honestly if it was me, I would hire an attorney. It probably wouldn’t cost but a few hundred dollars and it might save your rear end if there is something in the purchase that would screw you. Just my opinion......
Good luck and congrats!
The escrow company may be able to handle this situation.
If the land went to the brothers, then it should be in their names. I wouldn't buy it until the local government recognizes them as the legal owners. Then this gets really simple.
Every jurisdiction varies no doubt and I'm no authority on any of them but if it were me locally i'd call a title insurance company first, it might be pretty cheap, or not. In any event it should be educational.
