How much clearance do I need around the pipes when they go through joists? I have now developed some pipe squeaking when I discharge the tub through the DWV pipe. It may be due to clearance or just weight, because the pipe is not properly supported. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim

Put a piece of foam or inner tubing around the pipe where it goes through the wood. The heat/weight of the bath water makes the pipe expand/squeak, but a strip of foam or rubber around the pipe quiets it.
Or just turn up the radio.
