I’ve got a bunch of the old push button wall switches that I took out of my 1915 house during a remodel. Two of them were set up as 3 way switches to control the lights on the upstairs landing. Problem is I mixed them up with the single pole switches and I’ve looked them over multiple times and I can’t see a bit of difference between them. They all have 4 screws ( 2 on each side). They are ceramic housings with all brass hdware and appear in good order. My questions: 1 Are they even safe to use since since now I have a gound wire? Is there an easy way to tell which ones are set up for 3 way vs. 1 way operation. I do have a volt, ohm, amp meter. Any help would be great. Dave E.
