I know we have a resident truss man.
No, I don’t want to know if I can build my own trusses.
Here is the situation. 60′ x 75′ building, nice simple box, hip roof, 3-6 overhang is called for. Set girders where the truss company called them to be, then set all the middle trusses, then set the other girders. The “easy frame” that lays on the hip trusses worked out great, first time for everything. When I went to set the hip jacks and all the other end trusses I noticed the height at the plate was different. Checking the overhang I found that it was different too, it was 4″ shorter. Nailed a few in so I could pull a string on the tails for height. The sub-fascia height plained in perfectly. So what I now have is a building with 2 different overhangs(north and south the same, east and west the same). How could a “bonafied” truss company make this mistake? It looks to me like on N and S they accounted for the brick veneer, and the E and W they did not. Is this possible? I have worked with this company MANY times, never had a weird one like this. Also, I can’t think of a way to make the overhangs the same size without redoing the whole friggin roof. This is not an option obiviously.
Had another “slight issue” on this job, if you need more details, I will tell “the rest of the story” Should also say the crew is doing a great job, looks like we will make yet another deadline. Someday my luck will end.
Thanks in advance.

Trusses hoosed up? Kiss your deadline goodby.
Boss hog ( BossHog ) aught to have an answer for you... he is the resident truss expert.
From your description it's hard to tell exactly what happened. But I'll venture a guess.
You said the overhang is 4" different, AND the heel height is different on the side and the end.
Assuming the pitches are the same on the sides and the ends. (Are they ??? - You didn't say) Maybe the end jacks were designed to cantilever 4", and the main trusses weren't.
Or maybe it's a dual sloped hip, and they adjusted the heels and overhang lengths to make the fascia line up?
Calling the truss company is probably the only way to find out fer sure what they had in mind.

Did these come from Rehkemper? If so, can ya get me a job number? (I work for them, if ya didn't know) I might be able to check it out and come up with what they did on Monday. Can't do anything until then, though.
If they came from us, email me and I'll give ya my work number. Then hopefully a phone call and an email or 2 will get this all lined out.
It would also be helpful to know who the samesman is...
.
Saturday I'll be out most of the day unless it rains. But I'll check in sometime and see if ya have some more info.
They came from okaw. Though we normally use you guys. Had no clue that was who you worked for thought you were around granite city. Yes the pitch is the same on both sides. Showed this mistake to GC, I think he may have the answer. He says not to worry since he showed to owner and they said, "whats 4 inches among friends", turns out this is office for GC's wifes booming business. An inch to short. That's the story of my life !

You bought them from OKAW ??? No wonder they were screwed up. (-:You know, OKAW spelled backwards is "WAKO".And I like to remind them of that every chance I get...
Bumpersticker: If you think this car is dirty, then you should spend a night with the driver!
I dont buy them, I just get paid to put them up. Believe me, If I know they are supplying the trusses I charge more because they are never stacked to work out from end to end. Thumbs up to the boys in St. Rose for that one.An inch to short. That's the story of my life !

I was just poking fun about WAKO. I also like to remind them that backwards it looks a lot like "WACO".If you ever do have trouble with Rehkemper's stuff, email me and I'll try to help out if I can.
Normal is just a setting on your dryer.
Set girders where the truss company called them to be,
Occasionally, we ignore the truss company layout and set the girder in a spot that makes our overhangs work.
It sounds like you had the same option, but you didn't check your endjacks before you set the girder.
Since we build all of our overhangs before we set the trusses, we always have to verify the actual parts of the truss package. If you had done that, you might have moved the girder that 4".
