I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts re: those quonset hut type steel buildings. My buddy has one he would like to get rid of 40’x60′ w/ straight sides – he has never gotten around to assembling it. Are these things any good?
Thanks!

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

hard to finish on the inside.. hard to insulate.. but great shelter...
keep the base out of the water zone and it'll still be standing in 50 years..
the ones around here are..
and i'm 3 miles from Quonset Point.. used to be able to see it from our windows 'til the trees grew too high...
*Bear, There are quite a few quonset's around where I live . They are easy to build and can take some abuse. From what I've seen the insulation is the expensive part. Most people around here have theirs spray urethaned (sp), which can get spendy depending on how thick you want it. Good Luck, Dave
*I've seen one go down, or at least seen it after it collapsed (snow).....riding arena owned by friends. Several more colapsed in the Maritimes this winter, I think. I wouldn't have thought they could fail like that, but it seems they do.
*Bear, how much per foot does he want? Your cost for a pad + whatever and you've got a great building. I've got a neighbor who put one up, makes a great landmark & sure holds a lot of junk. You'll never again have to pass on a good deal as you'll have a place to keep damn near anything. And your friends & family's crap too! JoeH
