I am converting a garage into a family room and using engineered floor joist but they have to come level with existing floor which is 24″ above garage floor. My question is should i lay them on a ledger board or nail a rim board on studs and use hangers ( this is a non load bearing floor Thanks Mark

BTW, what is the span and will you need support at the mid point?
How are you going to deal with the moisture that comes up through the slab?
How is the rest of the house built (slab on grade? Stem wall?)
If the rest of the house is on a slab, I would think about filling the box with dirt, compacting it and pouring a slab over a vapor barrier..
