Don’t know how many of you remember but awhile back there was someone from some reality tv program on here looking to recruit candidates for a show where couples had to remodel a condo/house. I believe the person said that it was done in some other country.
The winner would win there unit. don’t remember all the specifics of the contest.
I do remember there being some good posts, mainly bashing the whole idea, I was one of them.
Now tonight while watching the FOX channel I saw a commercial for the show. Wasn’t to detailed but it was definitely a show based on what this person was talking about. There was some mention of the contest and the winner getting the unit that they built/remodeled.
Anybody else see this? I thought it was lame when the person on here mentioned it and I still do.

I remember the thread. But I haven't seen any ads for the TV show - No time to watch the boob tube.
.
We did have something interesting happen recently regarding a TV show, though. Someone calls the company a while back from a TV show for the Fox network. They're doing a remodel for some sort of reality show up near Chicago (200 miles away) and want us to provide trusses for it.
Trouble is - They need someone there the NEXT DAY to measure the existing building, and need the trusses there 2 days later. Apparently they'd tried virtually every truss manufacturer in the state, and we were the only ones willing to do it.
So we send a guy up. He has to wait an hour to get onto the jobsite, as they're shooting video all around the building. Once the camera crew moves inside, our guy is allowed to measure the exterior of the building. But he has to duck under the windows, as they're shooting video inside and don't want to see any people walking around.
The TV folks promised us we'd get a shot of our crane truck in the show as it was seting the trusses. Trouble was, the crane couldn't get anywhere near the house due to trees and power lines. So he dropped the trusses and left.
I'm not sure what the name of the show is, or when it will be on. Only that it's some time in the fall.
Married men should forget their mistakes - there's no use in two people remembering the same thing.
At first when I read your post I though maybe the show was Extreme Homes, they always need stuff right away, but then I remembered that their not on FOX. FOX is probably copying Extreme Homes in some way.

Yep, I saw the commercial. Looks like a really dumb show. I'd hate to see the true condition of the unit that wins and if it were truly worth living in.
As someone on these posts has said before, they never show close ups of the work, just wide angle and far away pans. Hides the 1 coat paint jobs and crummy/crazy arts and crafts ideas the "designers" and "carps" come up with.
Ok I'm done.
It is called The Complex.
Here was the "casting call"
http://www.complexcasting.com/
And this is Information on the show.
http://www.realitytvworld.com/index/articles/story.php?s=2738
Fox has announced that The Complex: Malibu, the network's new home renovation competition series, will debut on Monday, August 30 with a special two-hour 8-10PM ET/PT premiere. Following the two-hour special, the series will air in its regular 9PM ET/PT time period beginning Monday, September 6.
The Complex will begin with eight couples competing for the opportunity to restore and redecorate one of four units. Under tight deadlines, the couples will battle each other for control of the units, while trying to add the most value to each of the rooms. A panel of real estate professionals - an interior designer, a real estate agent and an architect - will rank the rooms from best to worst and help decide the couples' fate: who stays and who goes. At the end of the show, the renovated units will be sold at public auction, and the couple whose unit nets the highest-percentage profit will receive the profits from all of the units.
The eight couples participating in the competition are:
• Barney (age 67) and Rose (age 64) from Hauppauge, NY
• Brad (age 37) and Lew (age 39) from Phoenix, AZ
• Carl (age 30) and Kim (age 30) from Las Vegas, NV
• Dave (age 26) and Ana (age 27) from New York, NY
• Erik (age 31) and Jayna (age 28) from Dallas, TX
• Steve (age 28) and Nicole (age 27) from Chicago, IL
• Sanyika (age 24) and Monique (age 26) from Washington, DC
• Scott (age 32) and Sam (age 31) from Canton, GA
If I recall correctly they wanted people that were non "professionals", that should make it interesting, bunch of armatures doing the work!
Doug
Toolguy
If you read BH post to you then that will make it more interesting! Do all that crapy work and now you got to sell it and make a profit! Good Luck with that, cause any of the similar shows that I've seen I think the value has gone down!
Doug
Ahhh I see. They get the profits and some unlucky soul gets to live in the crappily redone apt, only to have it fall apart on them 6 months later. Niiiiiccce.
If enough folks watch it, they'll see it pays to call a pro. Always good for business.
