stairs…the owners requested hardwood, and were dismayed when they saw OBS glued down for the supposed carpet they never wanted.
The GC says we can just cut off the bullnose and cap over them, I think the rise/run will be effected and I think we must rip them out and start over. What’s the rule here? Q

As you suspected, the risers will get fouled up. Code here requires no more than a 3/8" variance from riser to riser. While the intermediate risers would all be consistent, the top riser would be short, and the bottom too tall. Even if you yank off the OSB, You still may have a problem with the heights of the first and last treads.
