I’ve got an old house with wood grained aluminum siding, “barn red” in color. I cannot tell if it came that color or if it was painted. I see lots of homes with the same stuff. Does anyone know if this was/is a stock item?
I’d like to build a small addition and re-siding the whole house is not in the budget for me. I actually may have enough after tearing off the old solid sided porch in lieu of picket railings, but I’m curious whether this is available…

You have a very fine historic home there. While someone along the way has taken some liberty with the material choices (aluminum, perhaps vinyl windows, and what looks to be some type of man made material for the porch ballusters, newels and railings) it is still very striking and charming. The histeric preservationists (myself included) would tell you that an addition should look like just that. It should be sympathetic and complimentary but without making an attemp to recreate what can really never be truly recreated.
Just my thoughts.............
Reynolds and ALCOA both use to make that red siding. IIRC. Could it be steel? And then there is this....
