I am trying to find a nontoxic method to strip off the old finish from the stairs in a old Seattle home. I am the one who was chosen for this project. Please let me know if there is a product on the market that won’t kill everyone in the house including the plants. Thanks

Scrapers, sand paper and lots of elbow grease are the only effective non-toxic method I know.
*3M makes a nontox stripper. I've never used it but it might be worth a look.
*3M's stripper is called Safest Stripper. I've used it. It worked, and the elderly couple found the slight smell completely tolerable. They were concerned about the odor before the project started. Very benign stuff. Expensive, too.Remember, follow the directions and be patient.Rich Beckman
