I am a carpenter who used to work on union projects.I am trying to make a living working for other people in remodeling residential..i wanted to know how i can get mre skills and knowledge in remodel plumbing/electrical/.I have basic knowledge of all aspects,and basic tools.I live in palatine il,and am working w a small remodel outfit (k/b)

I work in a different profession. However I own a house and have seen all kind of poor craftsmanship. It forced me to educate myself in this area too. From this experience and from my profession I would suggest to you:
- Learn from experience: Change jobs that give you the desired exposure to variety of projects. Or specialize in one area.
- Learn from self-education: Subscribe to magazines, read blogs, websites.

Get certification....for example Tyvek, siding installer certification.
These are more general construction and remodeling resources but I am sure you can find more specialized resources for plumbing/electrical.
