Hi,
We are setting up to do a small remodel in Maryland. Durning the remodel we will be replacing the aluminum siding with vinyl siding on the whole house. The framing is 2×4 on 16 and is insulated with kraft faced fiberglass. The sheathing looks to be tarboard. Should we replace it with plywood sheating while we have it exposed? There is nothing wrong with it but I sure would hate to find out down the road I should have replaced it. Should we wrap the house before the siding with felt or house wrap? I just want to do the right thing while I have the house exposed.
Thanks,
Forrest

If the sheathing is asphalt impregnated the down sides are it won't hold a nail or staple so everything must hit the framing. If the corners of the house are plywood this shouldn't be too much problem. Also I don't see a problem with wrapping the house, but again, slap staples probably aint going to hold it.
Right or wrong the majority of contractors would just nail up the new siding because of costs.
