Guys; I am remodeling kitchen/livingroom. I need to remove 16ft of bearing wall. It runs paralell to the ridge over the carrying beam. This is a single story raised ranch. I will have a post at 8ft with either wood or steel beams on either side. Or could I get away with a single steel beam spanning approximately 15 ft? Should I use wood and if so what size, or steel I beam which would give more headroom.
Thank You
