Client & designer had a brainstorm about how to deal with awkward dormers ina house due for some remodeling…remove the dormers and fill in the ceiling and roof like they were never there. Sounds easier than cutting in new dormers. See attached pics. Roof is about 6:12 stick framed, cement tiles. Any words of wisdom?

Isn't this the house where they wanted more light?

Oh, there's lots of thoughts going on here. Part of the issue is that the top plate is at 8 ft, so the whole roof seems low. I'm not sure if they want more light as much as a more open feeling. The dormers are awkward and really mess up the ceiling plane, so the designer is suggesting they go away.
T&M works, but I was looking for advice as to any pitfalls. Since it's closing in a hole, it seems to me that it will be pretty straight forward.Do it right, or do it twice.
three simple words explain everything elcid, time and materials!
