I am a GC and carpenrty contractor in the Chicago area. We primarily install gas forced air and standard air conditioning systems with sheet metal ducts. I have experience with combined water heater/forced air heating systems, but, more and more I am being asked to quote hydronic in the floor heating systems by my clients. My local HAVC guys I have used for years still qoute the central air systems for these homes with sheet metal duct work and an air handler. They claim high velocity central air is too expensive. What I am asking for here, is any and all feedback from those of you that have designed, priced, purchased, or lived with a high velocity central air system. Do they work? Who sells the systems? How can I learn about system design and costs?
