Have a bungalow with the porch roof a few feet below the roof of the main house with wooden bevel siding used for the sidewall. Will be reroofing with asphalt shingles. Assuming the existing flashing cannot be reused, does the siding have to be removed in order to apply the step flashing, or is there another way to do it?
Thanks,
Jon

if the siding is high enough off the old roof, sometimes you can slide the steps past the nose of the siding. If its not got nails down below where the steps end. Nail the old flashing down on the deck, no need to remove it.
