Residing wall with thicker roofing shing
I need to reshingle a west wall before painting, about 2 square. The current cedar shingles are 24″ with a 11″ exposure and are in terrible shape. The only 24″ shingles I can find locally are at a roofing supplier and are thicker than the current shingles – up to 3/4″ vs a little less than 1/2″ for the current shingles. I will dip them and roll them with oil base primer before installing. Other than the reveal around windows, does anyone see a problem with the thicker shingles? This is in Boise, Idaho and gets a lot of sun, but not much rain.
