Retrofitting combustion air to a old stone fireplace
I’m dealing with a old chimney that has a brick firebox and a veneer of extremely hard stone…. not sure yet if it has a block core or not. In any case, I plan to let the Concrete cutting company core drill the hole I need, but I’m having trouble finding the right tackle to install for the combustion air supply. If it consisted of a metal duct with closable grilles at one or both both ends, I’d be fine.
The client, however, has requested that the closable grille be remotely operated by a pull-type knob/cable (think car choke ), or a thermostatic style damper which wouldshut when the fire dies and cools down.
Can anyone give me a lead to a manufacturer who makes a combustion air kit resembling the above ? I’d be very much obliged.

Seems like a plain old gravity damper would work fine.
