I looked at a job today replacing some rotten fascia on two outside corners (hip roofs). The gutters are nailed in from the outside with aluminum nails. I told her, that based on my past experiences with these flimsy @$$ gutters, I didn’t feel too confident about saving the gutters and she said she had another estimate where the guy said they would “push the gutters up and out of the way” while they replaced the fascia. I told her to let him do it because I’m not making that guarantee. Now I’ve got to thinking about and am wondering if there are good ways to reuse gutters and if so, what’s the best technique to get them un-nailed and out of the way to replace the fascia? Thanks

Depends how high up. If I could reach it easy, trash it. Gutter is cheap enough to not waste a day screwing around and still having a bent up gutter when yer done.
Way high up, I might consider cutting it free a foot away from a corner, cutthe spikes with bolt cutters so ya dont jiggle the bejeezus outt athe rotten fascia and tear up the rotten rafter tails..and set the free gutter up on the roof while you fix the what not rot..then splice the corners back in and hang with gutter screws and ferrules AFTER ya get it set with a few blind hangers..but putting up new is still easier. And probly better.
