I have a choose on my new workshop … conventional roof with overhangs or raise the front and rear walls of the shop up by say 12″ to give it more the look of a workshop from the turn of the century.
Question … I have seen roof after roof after roof leak at the chimney. I was taught long ago about step flashing.
If I have the front and rear walls raised, there would be about 150 ft of step flashing.
Am I asking for trouble or if done “properly”, can I get a leak free roof?
Others must have the same issue where a roof meets a wall.
Any “best” technique other than step flashing to make this work?
