In the last issue Of FH there was an article regarding bathroom fans. When attaching the vent to the roof, the author uses flashing on the top and both sides of the vent. Is the flashing just made from shingles or is it another product?

As I recall, Mike (I think it was.) adds flashing to the flange of the roof cap. This was most likely self-adhesive ice and water barrier. This goes under the shingles and serves to increase the effective size of the flange which sometimes seems a little skimpy.

Thanks Al. I used your suggestion and it works well.
