I live on the Oregon Coast and I am having a problem with water runoff from my roof. The shingles are composite and hang over the edge of the roof about 1/2 – 3/4 of an inch. In some spots the water is running back up the bottom of shingles, behind the gutter and into the fascia board. This has caused rot in the fascia board. One solution would be to run a good sealant right at the top of the fascia board where the inside edge of the gutter meets the roof line, thereby sealing the bottom of the shingles to the gutter. Another solution would be to shove some shingles up under the edge roof in an attempt to extend the edge of the roof a little further out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i don't see any drip edge in your description....if there isn't any.. that's why..
if there is a drip edge, then you can cut strips of aluminum and tuck it under the drip edge and into the gutter

Where'd you learn to solve problems so easy like that?
No long winded elaborations about surface tension
No condemnation of paper bagged roofers who forget metal edge
No questioning ot the ptich of the roof
You just cut right to the chase and solved the problem, lickety-split.
