I have been banging nails for a little over 20 years and have run into a strange problem recently on my last few roof jobs that i was wondering if someone else has seen the same thing. Wether the fascia bd. is pre-primed pine or composite trim or cedar i am getting black stains. Each job i do the same thing 8″ aluminum drp edge, then Ice and Water shield then starter strip followed by shingles and i am wondering if the coil nails are reacting to the alm. drip edge causing these black marks this happens on heated and unheated roof areas the last 2 on new additions i built with soffitt and ridge vents HELKP!!!!

That's a situation. I'll post here and maybe you'll get some experienced responses when it walks down the thread line-up again.
...sitting in his nowhereland.
sounds like something is comming off the SURFACE of the shingles, not the underlying parts..
is the stain in the same location as the gullets ?.. do you have a lot of dirt in the air that is being washed off the roof ?
