We have a lot of flat roofs where I’m from, most with decks on them. I often build decks but have never been responsible for the final roofing detail around the posts. Now that is time to do one on my house I’d like to tackle the roofing part as well. The material of choice here is torchdown rubber. What is the best method, sequence of operations to seal around a post? Any tips or advice? It seems like no matter what, I am going to end up with a seam that faces up-hill. It can be torched and sealed but to me only seems to be a matter of time before water wins that battle.
