Looking for feedback on composite slate shingles, pros and cons; something other than I will get from a salesman or brochure preferably from someone who has installed one, and/or has information after several years living under it.
Considering lamarite slate composite from Tamko. The fake slate, made of rubber. Application is sothern Michigan accross the street from a lake, better than normal winds, 6 – 12 pitch roof, lots of trees mostly oak. How is it to walk on after application, slippery when wet? Will it grow mold, moss, funji? I go up about once a month except winter to blow off roof and gutters.
In advance thanks for your input.

I'm in the process of putting Authentic Roof 2000 slates made by James Crowe Co. on the mansard portion of my own house. I believe these are made in Canada, 50 year warranty, good quality. I think the company has been around for maybe 20 years. They look great. A bit fussy to flash, and trim around all the dormers, but then cedar would be the same. I haven't walked on them cause the pitch is much too steep but in dry weather on a reasonably pitched roof, it doesn't seem like they'd be particularly slippery. They are pricey, but I don't plan on redoing them in my lifetime. They really haven't been up long enough to give you any better information.
