rousseau or makita porta-table saw stand
picked up an old rousseau, or makita porta-table table saw stand. the hinges are a little sloppy. the fence handle doesnt lock down real tight. no manual or instructions. its the one for the old makita 2708 8 1/4 in portable table saw. does anyone have an old manual or set-up instructions. also does anyone know how to tighten up the fence handle, and take some of the slop out of the leg hinges. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks gerry

The Rousseau is a good table, I've had mine since the early 90s. You may be able to adjust the 2 Allen screws to get more tension in the fence cam (the screws that adjust for square). Is the tension leaf spring in place? If it's missing, you may be able to get a replacement part from them.
As far as the leg hinges go, I've managed to tighten mine up by peening the rivets slightly with a hammer. Back up the other side with the head of a sledgehammer, and tap the rivet. It shouldn't take much.
If the rivets are too far gone, I'd try drilling them out and replacing with bolts, lock washers, flat washers, and Nylock (aircraft) nuts.
I just picked up a free 2708 that needs a rebuild, but I've always wanted a spare for dedicated set-ups. Be starting on the rework soon.
thank you tom, that 2708 and a resseau is a great combo.
All of their products have a lifetime warranty - might be worth a check with them how they handle it.

thanks julian, ill give them a call. their company seems like a nice group of folks. gerry
The allen screws in the fence near the handle also align the fence to parallel the blade. Important that the leaf spring piece is in place against the front rail when you put the fence on.
I've had mine since the mid 90's and it's still going strong.
thanks jer, when i go to put the fence back on the rail i have to push the tension spring in , on each side , in order to get it to snap onto the square tubing.
I have a knock off of the rouseau stand, and to tighten up the fence lock there is a bolt direcly behind the handle (you can't see it unless you flip the fence over) which can be adjusted and has a lock nut to keep it in place. it kind of looks like a carriage bolt head, pushing on a pressure plate which bears on the rails.
Flip the fence over and have a look.
thanks rich for the info, gerry.
