We have a sand filled concrete foundation base to our screened-in porch. This foundation base is a 9’ tall, 16’x 16’ room, filled with sand and topped with a concrete slab which is the floor of our porch. We would like to turn that sand filled concrete room into a storage room with outdoor entry such as a small garage door. I’m having trouble finding anything about this type of project online. I assume we would need to support the concrete roof by putting steel beams underneath the concrete slab before we release the sand. Any thoughts on the process or feasibility? Sorry the pics are sideways.
