Thinking about adding a screened porch to our house this summer but we are concerned about what this will do to the view from inside the house. The porch will be off the livingroom and we want to know how much of an effect this will have on the view say during the winter when you are looking out thru the windows of the house then the screen of the porch. Plan is to use large screen panels with only the min. number of posts inbetween.
Thanks,
Bob

It's like looking through tinted glass, more or less.
Why not make the screens removable,
no problems with views in the winter.

I add a skylight whenever possible to make up for the lost light.

We've got translucent fiberglass for the roof of our screened deck, and it lets a lot of light in.

Thanks for the quick replys.
I saw the article in FHB that talks about using screen door panels between the post, but I'm having a hard time finding storm doors of the same size and style. Any one know of a mfg. of these.

We used Monray Glasswalls: http://www.monray.com/gw.htmFairly expensive, and not the absolute best quality for that money, but they work well with minimal futzing in a lot of situations.

Another option I like is wall to wall aluminum storms. I use 4' x 6'. 48 x 48 fixed over 48 x 24 single hung with screen, only 1 stud and trimers each side. That gets good air circulation and is useable 3 seasons. Also much lighter than all screen.
A lot of screen manufacturers have come out with screens that allow more light to pass through and are much less noticeable. I don't remember any names, but you might want to look into it.
