Basic difference is grunt.
fret saw = http://www.olsonsaw.com/tubular_sawframe.html
scroll saw = http://www.deltawoodworking.com/index.asp?e=136&p=928
a fret saw cuts out the "fret" slots on a guitar or something <g>!
A scroll saw cuts the "scrolls" on like, a , scroll end of a violin.
but you can use a fret saw for scrolls...
a scroll saw for frets.....
b ut it's best to use the scroll saw just for scrolls, in case you break the scroll with the fret saw,
then you'll have to "fret" over it!
FYI.... a "seasaw" is not a playground toy, but used to be saw carried out to sea, to cut sea scrolls. But that practice died out.
You heard of the "dead" sea scroll's havn't you?
can you cope with that? If not, that's why there's a "coping" saw.
a "hack" saw, is a saw used by someone who mis-cuts the scroll, but nails it up any way.
