The cap on a Sharpie permanent marker happens to be the right size to slide on to the end of most tubes of caulk. It’s a tight fit and provides an effective seal to keeps the caulk from drying out. Next time when your Sharpie runs out of ink, toss the body but keep the cap handy for when you need to save a used tube of caulk. The cap is long enough that you can stuff a small piece of paper towel into the cap, add a little water, slip on to the tube of caulk and it should last a long time.
