Sealing new shower grout…
We recently purchased a new house with two large showers made with ceramic tile and sanded grout. What is the best product to seal the grout? We have heard suggestions from Rain-X to car wax, but no one seems to agree. Any suggestions??

Check a place that sells tile, or your local home center. There are special products for this.

Hi Bill...seems to be some tiling going on around here - just replied to Mojo's post about the v.b. I kind of had the same question as you did as I was completing my tub surround, unfortunately I ended up back at the HD looking for a product to help make the grout as water tight as possible. The HD staffer told me that none of the products would actually make the grout 'water proof' but recommended the Tile Lab teflon sealant. They informed me to actually make everything water proof I was to have coated the substrate with a product they offered, and it was to be rolled on like paint. Needless to say, they weren't aware of the cement backer board available for these applications just a few aisles over....
Not sure what your substrate is...but you should get some good answers here. Keep us posted.

Cement Backer board is not water proof.
Use a good quality grout sealer and apply it once a year."One measurement is worth a thousand expert opinions"
