I was wondering if there is anyone with any insight to framing a second story addition . I have done a few and most of the time I have torn of the roof and sistered floor joist next to ceiling joists that would not accomadate floor load . The last one I did the fella I work with decided that by framing on top of ceiling joists rather then next to would simply the project considerably. We are going to start another one in a few weeks and we are planning on doing the same detail But, blocking up at all bearing areas using a 2x on flat to accomadate wiring . i believe we might be adding additional flat furring every 16″ across ceiling joists. interested in hearing thoughts about this.
