Not a whole lot of content here, just wanted to share a very positive experience I just had.
I’m adding a bathroom to the basement, and recently installed the lines for the sink + toilet. Used 1/2″ PEX and then used SharkBite connectors to tie into the existing hot & cold lines.
Just to preface things, I hate plumbing as I always end up with leaks. Matter of fact, on my itemized list of activities for the bathroom, I had:
*connect new lines to old
*turn water back on
*pray
Third task wasn’t needed. No leaks! Totally easy connection splicing a tee into my existing lines. I gotta admit that sharkbites are pricey, but wow, do they make things easier for you!!!
Thanks for letting me share!

Did ya know that you can remove them and re-use them? They make a small tool for removing them. Prab'ly not 50 times but ya can use em several times. I use em alot to cap lines in bathroom renovations.
Worth every penny!

yeah, I just messed shark bite today in a crawl space. Wasnt going to bust out the mapp in that small of a space and didnt want to mess with compression fittings. No problems at all amazed at how fast I was done. Very $$$$ though.
In europe electrical connections are this easy...(i think).
ain't they great.... in the freezing winter (as much as we have here) i had a leak in an empty retail space... was just luck i even saw it... 3/4" copper beside a furnace an old line to a HWH that was no longer there... it's an old strip center and i have no idea what spaces are tied to what meter this place was built before the area was even a city and there was zero codes...
anyway.. with a 3/4" shark bite connected to a 3/4 ball valve on one side... i cut the leaking part out of the line with the water on ( i was dressed in a 55gal garbage bag) slipped on the shark bite with the valve open then closed the valve.... less than 10min total yeah i got kinda soaked but... i was 50 miles from my tools it was dark... and i happen to have the stuff to do this with me...(did it by flashlight) it might be $$$ for the fitting but it saved me a return trip... easy to say it saved me half a day because i was already there... i didn't have to hunt down the cutoff and hope it worked... never was so happy to get a little wet and be done with a problem i didn't even know i had...
I'm sold on em
