I’m trying to gather information on sheetrock sanders with a vacuum attachment. We’re getting ready to remove an entire house of blown ceiling and would like to minimize the dust as we refinish the sheetrock. Has anyone had any good experiences with this? If so, what brands would you recommend?

there is really only one. Porter cable, you can rent them at HD
.
Does it minimize the dust?
I am planning the water spray and scraping method to remove the popcorn finish (not hard -- a lot has already delaminated and fallen down!), but the taping, bedding, and sanding to get the sheetrock ready for painting is where I'm looking to minimize dust.
I've seen someone use a cheap attmt for a pole sander. It's a snout you hook the vac to. Does ok, not great by any means. The PC sander does wonders except in corners. Hand work in the corner. Gets a little heavy especially ceiling work-but in comparison to hand work..............way better. I would couple it with their vac (PC).
best of luck.A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

Ann, in most cases the popcorn ceiling removal means spraying water with a pump sprayer to soften it up and then scraping off with a drywall knife. Visqueen the walls (painters plastic) and cover the floors with a (waterproof if necessary) disposable covering.
But the above link is to JoeH's offer of a porter cable sander. No vac goes with it I don't think, but you might talk with Joe.

I recently did a lot of DryWall in my basement. I used a handheld PorterCable random orbit sander hooked up to my shopvac. I put a bag filter rated for DW dust in the shop vac. The filter bags are readily available at Lowes / Home Depot and are not expensive --- maybe 3 for $20???
Before you professionals jump on me...... I'm only a homeowner / do it yourselfer !!!!
It worked GREAT for me.... no noticeable dust, and a real easy way to finish sand...
Good luck
