Am restoring a house built in 1905. The original interior walls are horizontal boards which at some point were sheetrocked. Have had the house leveled so now the sheetrock is in bad shape. I don’t like it anyway because it makes the post and lintel mouldings look thin. Is there some sort of thin plaster, spackle, etc. that I could use over the wood and would it need some sort of bonding agent? Thanks for any help.

What is the thickness of the current DW?
You can get 1/4" and that might help.
What was the orginal wood and finishes. Was it a "high style" finishe or was ramdam wood boards the cheapest things that they could find?
What aobut ripping out all of the wood and replacing it all with DW?
