I am looking to add a basement bathroom with a toilet, shower and vanity.
I am looking for a shower base or entire unit that is approximately 32-34″ wide but about 42-48″ deep. Therefore you would enter on the narrow end.
Does anyone know of any commercially made units of that size?
I know I may have to build a base and add walls, but would prefer not to if I don’t have to.
I have reviewed the article concerning building a shower pan in Volume 141 pg66.
If there are no commercially available units, does anyone have any additional advice that may be of assistance.
Thank you,
Mark

They do make shower receptors in those sizes, however, I'm not 100% positive if they still make them with the threshold on the short side.
You are looking for a single threshold receptor...
take a look at http://www.swanstone.com
You would have to talk to a sales rep about Kohler or American-Standard. Their websites only show the receptor as having a threshold on the long dimensions.
But I do recall ordering ones with the threshold on the short side way back when I did kitchen & bath sales in a Mom/Pop lumber yard...
The Schluter system is pretty easy to put together, it's expensive though. The drain adjustable, so I didn't even have to cut the 1x1 tile on my base. My shower is 32x53". You can just cut the tray and curb to size. The installation video on their site shows the process.
as mentioned ... my first thot was Swan.
bet they have something, given your open range of sizes. They do have options on either end or center drain ... which should help that "narrow opening".

Give this a try http://www.oasisbath.com/showerbases.htm We like their product and I believe they have a base that size with the end opening. DanT
Thank you to all who gave me your ideas, I did find something at both Swanstone and Oasis that I can use, I wish I had a couple more inches in width to get into
a 36" unit, and I am not sure yet if buying/making a base and tile walls is as cost effective as buying a whole unit. I will have to price that out.
Thanks again for your help,
Mark
Glad it worked out and thanks for posting what happened in the end. A lot of times you post something and have no idea if was of value. DanT
It looks like I am going to be stuck with a smaller unit, due to space restrictions.
A little design change has put me in a position with less room, so I will probably have to go with a 32" wide shower. Now I have to look to see if there are any longer that will give me some extra space. Wish me luck.
Thanks again, Mark
