my concrete float in my shower remodel is all the way to the uneven (not level) ceiling, which will be hard to tile and make look straight. i’d like to mud over part of it with drywall mud and bring the tile line down a foot lower on the walls. can i mud over concrete?
thanks

I did just that a few years ago in my bath remodel. I skimmed the mortar with durabond and then tiled and painted. I wasn't sure how well regular drywall mud would hold up in the moist environment, so that's why I went with the setting type.

thanks for your input. i did it, and so far it looks great!
I would avoid any drywall product in a wet environment. If you need to straigthen a crooked concrete wall to lay tile, I would use a regular mud product designed for this exact purpose, called a variety of names, such as "fat mud" or "wall float". It is essentially regular mud, about 5 parts sand to 1 part portland cement, with 1 or 2 parts lime. I don't mix my own, so don't take my recipe verbatim. I buy mine at DalTile or any masonry supplier and ask for "wall float".
