My shower valve has started to whistle as the water heats up. It is not a constant whistle but changes frequency and stops and starts. The water is supplied by a well and there hasn’t been any appreciable change in pressure since this stared happening. Any idea what the cause and fix is?

There is something loose or an obstruction that is causing the water flow to fluctuate rapidly.
You did not indicate what kind of valve you have, but open it up and if it has washers check that the washeer screw is tight and replace the washer if it shows any wear. Use a flashlight and check for any debrie.
If is a "washerless" then get a new cartridge or seal kit.
If that does not solve the problem then remove the shower head and check for debrie in the screen.
