I just installed a new white porcelain sink over a black fomica counter top. What type/brand of caulk should I use to seal the gap between the top and the edge of the sink?
Thanks, Mike

I'd probably use silicone. Or I'd inquire about plumbers putty.
Since you just installed it, it's a bit late. Best to set the sink in the caulk, then clean the excess.
Smelly cone will do the job. Most sinks actually come with a smallish squeeze tube colour-matched.
If you have to buy it, might as well use clear for your combination. run blue painter's mask around on the counter first, then cut a tiny tip off the silicone tube and knock yourself out, tool it down and then carefully peel the tape.
to clean a little bit off here and there, white vinegaar on a rag.

I did put a bead of white silicone caulk on the underside lip of the sink - a little squeezed out when I put weight on the sink to set it. I like the idea of the painter's tape since I am not a caulk 'artist'. Thanks, Mike
Yeah, normally a self-rimming sink is installed with a bead of silicone caulk under the rim, before installation. Even with it installed you might be able to prop the sink up slightly and squirt the caulk under the rim.
