I have one of those beaten up concrete floors with multiple coats of paint in the basement of a 1920s home. I am in the middle of finishing the basement. Several of the rooms are getting finished with either carpet or tile, so there is not real problem. However, I have a couple of rooms (laundry and an unfinished work room) where I’d like to “clean up” the concrete. I want to preserve as much ceiling height as possible, but I am wondering if there is any kind of stainable concrete skim coat that can be used in this case. If so, how thick are these products?
