skip the joist hangers

I’ve never been a big fan of joist hangers. my reason is that 10 or 12 properly installed 12d or 16d air nails are quicker,cheaper, and just as strong or stronger than joist hangers with shorter nails. My customer wants some evidence. can anyone help?
