I posted this question over on the JLC site the other day and haven’t got one response wondering if any trim/stair builders have an opinion. Is dadoing a closed skirt board to accept the treads and risers really necessary to create a squeak-free staircase? My normal technique is just to but the treads and risers into the skirtboard but i was reading an article on building squeak-free stairs and they recommended this trick,it seems rather time consuming but I am willing to try it .Anyone have any experience with this I,d like to hear your opinions. thanks
