I am retrofitting a skylght into a 12/12 pitch roof with 2×8 rafters 16″ oc. I have to header off one rafter to fit the skylight. The rafter span is 12’8″. Is it required to double the rafters on each side? I was planning on doing that but there is no way to maneuver another rafter in place along side it. Is it sufficient to sister it on in 2 pieces? Suggestions?
